PRINCETON – A Monroe County woman says she was injured after slipping on a grape tomato at Walmart.
Brenda Elaine Huffman of Peterstown filed her complaint Aug. 4 in Mercer Circuit Court. Wal-Mart Stores East LP was named as the defendant.
The incident occurred May 2, according to the complaint. Huffman says she was shopping at Walmart in Princeton when she slipped on the grape tomato on the floor in the deli area of the store.
“When plaintiff began to fall, she fell onto her right knee and her right, causing injuries to her right knee and right leg,” the complaint states, adding that she also injured her back.
Huffman says she incurred doctor, hospital and prescription medication expenses in excess of $2,500. She also says she’ll have future medical expenses from the incident.
She seeks compensatory damages for her injuries and loss, both past and future, as well as damages for emotional distress. She also seeks pre- and post-judgment interest and other relief.
Huffman is represented by Mark E. Wills of Wills Law Office in Princeton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge William J. Sadler.
