Cav's Coach bus driver sues possible intoxicated driver over collision

Busdriver

WINFIELD – A Putnam County bus driver is suing an alleged drunk driver for vehicle damage and injuries suffered in a collision.

Bryan Cavender, a bus driver for CAV's Coach Company, LLC, filed suit in Putnam Circuit Court against Phillip C. King, the driver of a 2006 Jeep Wrangler.

Cavender was driving his bus when he allegedly observed erratic driving on the behalf of King and moved to the right as safely as he could go to avoid a collision with King's Jeep. King allegedly crossed the center line of traffic and subsequently collided head-on with the bus, totaling both car and bus in the process.

The plaintiff seeks payment for the total loss of the bus, towing and stowing charges, loss of income and punitive damages. It is believed that the evidence shows that the plaintiff is not at fault in the accident, and that there is allegedly ample evidence that the defendant was under the influence at the time of the crash.

The plaintiff is represented by Michael D. Weikle, of the Weikle Law Firm in Tiffin, Ohio. The case has been assigned to Judge Reeder.
