CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County family is suing a healthcare provider, alleging it caused the untimely death of one of its family members.

Kimberly Parsons, executrix of the estate of Carol L. Sanatar, deceased, filed a lawsuit in Kanawha Circuit Court against the West Virginia University Board of Governors alleging malpractice.

According to the complaint, the WVU Board of Governors, which employed healthcare providers in charge of Carol L. Sanatar, committed medical malpractice in a allegedly botched surgical operation that directly resulted in her untimely death.

The plaintiff, on behalf of the family, alleges losses and damages, including, but not limited to, sorrow, anguish, loss of companionship, loss of income, medical bills incurred and funeral and burial expenses.

Parsons seeks a trial by jury, compensation for injuries and damages sustained, pre-judgment interest, court costs and attorney fees. She is represented by attorney Kelly R. Reed of the Law Offices of Kelly R. Reed in Morgantown. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Duke Bloom.
