CHARLESTON– Two discharged West Virginia security guards are seeking allegedly unpaid wages from their former employers.
Dwane Jones and Marsha Orndorff filed suit in Kanawha Circuit Court against Security Group Services LLC.
According to the complaint, Jones and Orndorff were former employees of Security Group Services before being terminated on Aug. 7 along with other security guards. The plaintiffs allege that their employers have failed to pay them their due wages for the four weeks leading up to their termination in a timely manner, a violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act.
The plaintiffs are seeking their final wages still owed, with interest and benefits, plus liquidated damages in the amount of two times the unpaid amount, as per the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, plus attorney fees and court costs, and any other relief as the court sees fit. The plaintiffs demand a trial by jury and are seeking to certify the suit as a class.
The plaintiffs are being represented by G. Patrick Jacobs of Jacobs Law Office of Southeast Charleston, and J. Michael Ranson and Cynthia M. Ranson of Ranson Law Offices of Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
