HUNTINGTON – A woman is suing St. Mary's Medical Center after she claims it is responsible for her mother's death.

Dr. Norman Hetzler was also named as a defendant in the suit.

On July 23, 2013, Marjory A. Dean was admitted to the hospital for scheduled cardiac bypass surgery and suffered a pulmonary leak during and/or following the surgery, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Jean F. Davidson claims the defendants failed to provide adequate care, which lead to Dean's injuries and death.

The defendants failed to adequately monitor her and assess her upon the onset of her worsening condition, according to the suit.

Davidson claims the defendants were negligent and are responsible for Dean's wrongful death.

Davidson is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. She is being represented by W. Stephen Flesher of the Law Offices of W. Stephen Flesher.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
