BECKLEY – A man is suing over claims that he was injured as a result of negligent care and treatment before and after undergoing a circumcision.

Corban M. Denny and his wife Deanna Denny filed a lawsuit Sept. 11 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Dr. Ashokkumar V. Bhalodi and Appalachian Regional Healthcare Inc., citing medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Corban Denny sought medical attention in April 2013 at the New River Clinic in Fayetteville with complaints that his foreskin had been red, swollen and itching for more than a week. The plaintiff was originally diagnosed with balanoposthitis and was prescribed medication. Once the treatment was completed, Dr. Bhalodi diagnosed Corban Denny with recurrent balanoposthitis and phimosis.

Following the diagnosis, Bhalodi performed a circumcision in June 2013. Corban Denny claims that he developed an infection in his penis following the procedure due to not receiving sufficient medical care and treatment before, during, and after his operation. As a result, the plaintiff claims that he has suffered bodily injuries, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, diminution in the ability to enjoy life.

Corban Denny and Deanna Denny are seeking an unspecified amount to compensate the plaintiffs for all damages they claim caused by Bhalodi. The plaintiffs are represented by Robert H. Miller II of Dunbar. The case has been assigned to Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick III.
