BRIDGEPORT – Steptoe & Johnson has named Mark D. Combs its Chief Information Officer.
Combs will oversee all of the firm’s information technology functions and lead a personnel team supporting more than 325 attorneys in 14 offices.
Before joining Steptoe & Johnson, Combs spent many years with West Virginia University Hospitals, Inc. His career there began as a PC and help desk support technician for WVU Healthcare. He climbed the ranks of the hospital’s IT department, eventually becoming the associate vice president and assistant chief information officer for West Virginia United Health System, the largest health system in West Virginia.
Combs was responsible for IT and biomedical engineering support for two critical access hospitals, one community hospital, and one academic medical center in the state’s Northern and Eastern Panhandles.

Combs is a certified professional in Health Information and Management Systems and is a certified HIPAA Security Specialist. He earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees from West Virginia University.
