Putnam Co. man accuses Healthsouth of wrongful death

HUNTINGTON – A man is suing Healthsouth after he claims it is responsible for his family member's wrongful death.

Rebound LLC is doing business as Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Huntington.

Healthsouth Corporation also was named as a defendant in the suit.

Tim Crager was admitted to Healthsouth from June 2, 2014, until June 4, 2014, for continued care, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Jeff Crager claims Tim Crager was at risk for aspiration, however, Healthsouth failed to appropriately implement a plan of care to prevent aspiration and failed to provide adequate preventative and protective PEG tube procedures and aspiration precautions.

The negligence and carelessnes of the defendants contributed substantially in causing serious injuries to Tim Crager, according to the suit.

Jeff Crager claims failing to implement adequate aspiration procedures resulted in Tim Crager's death.

The defendants were negligent and wrongfully caused Tim Crager's death, according to the suit.

Jeff Crager is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is being represented by Andrew L. Paternostro and Jeff D. Stewart of the Bell Law Firm PLLC.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
