Driver sues rental car agency for leasing car to bad driver

POINT PLEASANT – A couple has filed a lawsuit against Enterprise Rent A Car alleging it is responsible for carelessly and negligently leasing a vehicle to a driver who caused a car accident.

Edward and Rhonda Williams filed suit in Mason Circuit Court alleging an accident caused by the driver of a defendant owned rental car was the fault of the rental car company.

On Sept. 23, 2013, the plaintiffs were driving southbound on W.Va. 2 when a rental car traveling northbound jumped the middle lane, colliding with the plaintiffs' car and seriously injuring the occupants.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus attorney fees, costs of litigation and punitive damages.

The plaintiff is represented by Jon D. Hoover of Barboursville.
