Mercer Co. blames Big Lots for her injuries

PRINCETON – A Mercer County woman is suing a discount retailer over injuries she sustained in one of its stores, which she claims are a result of the store's negligence.

Shirley R. Miller filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in Mercer Circuit Court against Big Lots Stores, citing negligence.

On Sept. 2, 2014, the suit states, Miller was shopping at the Big Lots Store at 1332 Stafford Drive in Princeton, looking at a display of pictures on the floor, when the stack of pictures slid forward, knocking her backward into an endcap and then to the floor. The suit states the defendant's negligence caused injuries to Miller.

As a result, Miller sustained damages consistent with a non-displaced fracture in her shoulder, for which she has incurred medical expenses.

Miller seeks compensatory damages and interests.

She is represented by attorney Mark E. Wills of Wills Law Office in Princeton. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn.
