Homeless shelter employee sues shelter after attack left him injured

Lawyer

WHEELING – An employee of a homeless shelter is suing the organization following an alleged attack by a tenant of the shelter.

Jeffrey Scott Davis filed a complaint on Dec. 8 in the Ohio Circuit Court against Youth Services System Inc. alleging deliberate intent.

According to the complaint, Davis worked for the organization which offered aid to homeless individuals at the Winter Freeze Shelter branch. In the coldest months of the year, the shelter would accept any homeless individuals, without any restrictions or background checks of these people. One such man, a Mr. Price, was a regular guest at the shelter and suffers from psychological conditions. On one day in March, Price physically attacked Davis, causing him serious injuries, both physical and emotional. Although the employees are trained to handle violent situations, Davis claims that the failure to investigate the tenants is dangerous and he is suing the shelter for deliberate intent.

Davis is seeking compensation for all damages received and for the trauma he experiences due to the incident. He is represented by David F. Cross of Cross Law Office in Wellsburg.
