HUNTINGTON – A Cabell County woman is suing Parking Solutions Inc. after she claims she was injured in a parking garage.
On Jan. 22, 2014, Kellie Hoffman parked her vehicle in Pullman Square Parking Garage in order to go to work as usual as a paying customer, according to a complaint filed Nov. 6 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Hoffman claims she was exiting her vehicle in the parking garage when she immediately slipped on black ice on the ground, which was right next to her vehicle, and suffered bodily injuries.
Hoffman claims she had no warning or reason to believe that black ice would be located right next to her vehicle inside the closed garage causing her to fall and suffer injuries.
The defendant did not provide any notice that the ground was defective, dangerous or hazardous in any way, according to the suit.
Hoffman claims no signs were located at or near the black ice of any kind and no ropes or fences blocked the black ice off.
The ground section with black ice in the garage was a dangerous condition and the ground section was an unreasonably unsafe condition, according to the suit.
Hoffman claims the defendant was negligent in not meeting safety standards and in maintaining the garage.
The defendant’s actions caused Hoffman to suffer injuries and incur medical expenses, according to the suit.
Hoffman is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Jay C. Love.
