MORGANTOWN – A Monongalia County couple is suing West Virginia Rehabilitation Hospital Inc. after they claim its negligence caused injuries.

West Virginia Rehabilitation Hospital is doing business as Healthsouth Mountain View Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. Healthsouth Corporation was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Jeffery Golden was admitted to Healthsouth from Feb. 20, 2014, through Feb. 23, 2014, and March 10, 2014, through April 19, 2014, according to a complaint filed in Monongalia Circuit Court.

Golden and his wife, Debbie Golden, claim during his admissions to Healthsouth, he suffered serious injuries from a pattern of poor care, neglect and abuse rendered by Healthsouth, which included a fall resulting in a subdural hematoma.

The negligence and abuse Jeffery Golden suffered caused the significant destruction of his physical and mental condition during his time at the facility, according to the suit.

The Goldens claim the negligence and carelessness of Healthsouth’s employees contributed substantially to Jeffery Golden’s injuries and pain and suffering.

The defendants were negligent and caused injuries and loss of consortium, according to the suit.

The Goldens are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are being represented by Andrew L. Paternostro and Jeff D. Stewart of the Bell Law Firm PLLC.
