CHARLESTON — A Philadelphia man is suing the Charleston Capitol Hotel/Fairfield Inn after an alleged slip-and-fall injury on an icy sidewalk.
Anthony and Tiffany Lewis filed suit Jan. 15 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Silver Creek Charleston A LLC, doing business as Fairfield Inn and/or Charleston Capitol Hotel, and John Doe.
According to the complaint, Anthony Lewis was a guest at the Fairfield Inn/Charleston Capitol Hotel on Feb. 10, 2014, when he slipped and fell on ice on the sidewalk of the building. Lewis claims the injury was the fault of the defendants who did not keep the sidewalk safe or warn of any danger. As a result of the fall, Lewis allegedly was concussed and received injuries to his right side.
The John Doe named in the case is any other entity that had a responsibility to keep the sidewalk safe. Tiffany Lewis is suing for a loss of services and a direct financial loss as the spouse of Anthony Lewis.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages in excess of the court's minimum, pre- and post-judgment interest, court costs and attorney fees. They are represented by Vincent S. Gurrera of Gurrera Law Office in Weirton. Judge Jennifer F. Bailey is presiding over the case.
