WINFIELD – A Putnam County woman who leased hair salon space to two tenants says they broke the lease agreement by underpaying rent for several months.
H&B Rentals and its owner, Bonnie Forloine, filed a lawsuit Jan. 29 in Putnam Circuit Court against Skull Candy, Qianna Dunlap and Megan Maynard, alleging breach of a lease agreement.
According to the complaint, 10 months after Forloine signed a five-year lease agreement with Dunlap and Maynard, the two tenants parted ways. Although the suit says Dunlap has not paid her half of the rent since leaving, Maynard has kept the business operating, paying $500 in monthly rent since October 2015. Forloine cut the rent from $1,000 a month to $800, the suit claims, but Maynard told her she still cannot pay the full amount.
Forloine seeks back rent from Dunlap accruing from last October, as well as at least two years of rent from the defendants in order to cancel the lease and rent the space to others. Forloine is representing herself. Circuit Judge Joseph K. Reeder has been assigned to the case.
