Patient claims faulty hip replacement operation

Hip xray

CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County man is suing the surgeon who performed a hip replacement for alleged mistakes during the operation.

Ernest A. Hylton filed a lawsuit on Jan. 20 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Dr. David L. Soulsby, alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, after Soulsby performed a left hip replacement on Feb. 3, 2014, Hylton developed recurrent pain and required four separate surgeries to correct alleged defects in the original procedure. Hylton says Soulsby committed negligent acts, including using wrong components and incorrectly attaching them to the bones.

Hylton seeks a jury trial and compensatory damages to be determined at trial, plus interest and legal fees. He is represented by attorney Larry O. Ford of Meyer, Ford, Glasser & Radman PLLC in Charleston. Circuit Judge Charles E. King has been assigned to the case.
