Healthsouthsign

HUNTINGTON – A man is suing HealthSouth Corporation after he was injured on its premises.

On Nov. 20, 2014, Bill Short was a visitor at the HealthSouth Huntington Center and was walking out of the door of the facility to retrieve clothing for his wife when fell, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

Short claims he was made to fall backward due to the lack of care and/or maintenance of the walk way causing him to hit his head on the concrete walk, resulting in him losing consciousness and sustaining serious physical injuries due to the unattended walk way on the premises.

HealthSouth failed to maintain the premises in a safe manner so as to avoid injury to patients and/or business invitees, according to the suit.

Short claims he was caused to become sick, sore, lame and disabled and was prevented from attending his usual duties and was compelled to secure medical care and attention.

As a result of the defendant’s negligence, Short sustained bodily injuries, physical and mental pain and suffering and was permanently impaired, according to the suit.

Short is seeking compensatory damages. He is being represented by Michael T. Hogan of Hogan & Derified PLLC.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher Chiles.
