PRINCETON — A couple is suing the corporation that runs a local grocery chain after the wife allegedly fell and injured herself in one of its stores.

Annette A. and Tony Tabor, filed a lawsuit on Jan. 25 in the Mercer County Court against K-VA-T Food Stores Inc. for negligence.

According to the complaint, Tabor was a customer at Food City in Bluefield, which is owned by K-VA-T, on Aug. 30, 2014. During her visit, Tabor slipped and fell on water and/or ice that accumulated near an ice machine in the store, the suit states.

She allegedly suffered severe injuries to her knees, her right shoulder and her back, which required extensive medical treatment. She also claims to have suffered lost wages and other benefits, incurred substantial medical bills, and experienced numerous other personal traumas.

The plaintiffs demand a jury trial and are seeking a judgment against K-VA-T in an amount that fully and fairly compensates each of the injuries and damages sustained. They are represented by Lawrence E. Morhous and W. Blake Belcher of Brewster, Morhous, Cameron, Caruth, Moore, Kersey and Stafford, PLLC in Bluefield.
