Motorist accuses logging firm, driver of negligence

BECKLEY — A Raleigh County man is suing Mullins Logging and its owner in a dispute surrounding a traffic accident.

Bryan K. Runion filed a lawsuit Jan. 29 in Raleigh Circuit Court against James W. Mullins, individually and doing business as Mullins Logging, and William Lee Sims, alleging negligence and negligent entrustment.

According to the complaint, on March 31, 2015 a truck owned by Mullins Logging struck Runion’s vehicle from behind as Runion sat in traffic waiting to make a left-hand turn. The suit says Sims was driving the defendant’s vehicle, a 1989 GMC Tandum AXL truck, at the time of the accident, and was following Runion too closely, driving while distracted, and was improperly certified to operate the vehicle. Runion claims he suffered severe injuries as a result of the defendants' alleged negligence.

Runion seeks a jury trial and damages, including litigation and medical expenses, plus interest, in an amount to be determined at trial. He is represented by attorney Christopher D. Lefler of the Lefler Law Office in Beckley.

Judge John A. Hutchison is assigned to the case.
