Man sues HealthSouth of Huntington for father’s injuries

HUNTINGTON – A man is suing HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Huntington after he claims his father was injured while in the hospital’s care.

Rebound LLC is doing business as HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Huntington. HealthSouth Corporation was also named as a defendant in the suit.

During his stay at HealthSouth of Huntington, William C. Skeens suffered from a left shoulder fracture and the defendants failed to provide him with a safe environment, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.

William M. Skeens claims William C. Skeens also failed to provide adequate technique, support and assistance during transfer to prevent William C. Skeens from being injured.

The negligence and carelessness of the professionals and non-professionals at HealthSouth contributed substantially in causing serious injuries to William C. Skeens, resulting in pain and suffering, according to the suit.

William M. Skeens claims the defendants had a duty to act with reasonable care in the provision of services to William C. Skeens during the course of his admission to HealthSouth and breached that duty.

As a direct and proximate result of the negligence of the defendants’ William C. Skeens sustained injuries due to the fractured left shoulder, according to the suit

William M. Skeens is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is being represented by Andrew L. Paternostro and Jeff D. Stewart of the Bell Law Firm PLLC.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
