Kentucky firm accuses Double-Bonus Coal of owing unpaid debt

Money owed

BECKLEY — A Kentucky vendor is suing a customer in West Virginia for allegedly failing to pay money it owes for goods purchased in 2013.

Coalfield Lumber Co. filed a lawsuit Feb. 25 in Raleigh Circuit Court against Double-Bonus Coal Co., alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, Coalfield delivered various items to Double-Bonus at its mining operations in Pineville between July 2013 and January 2014. The suit says the total amount purchased was $83,886, which remains unpaid, despite attempts to collect the alleged debt.

Coalfield seeks a jury trial and recovery of the entire amount owed, plus pre- and post-judgment interest and litigation costs. It is represented by attorney Cecil C. Varney of Varney Law in Lovely, Kentucky.

Judge Robert A. Burnside Jr. is assigned to the case.
