Passenger injured in car wreck sues insurer for damages

Head injury2

WHEELING — An Ohio County man is suing an insurer for injuries he allegedly suffered as a passenger during a car wreck.

Jon Berardinelli filed a lawsuit March 4 in Ohio Circuit Court against Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance Co., alleging liability for negligent driving.

According to the complaint, Berardelli was injured March 5, 2011, while riding in a 1996 Ford Taurus driven by his friend, Nicholas Anthony. The suit says Anthony recklessly drove the car into a parking barrier, causing Berardelli to suffer permanent injuries to his head, neck, back, shoulders and other areas. At the time of the accident, the claim states that the vehicle was covered by an Allstate insurance policy.

Berardelli seeks a jury trial and compensation for his injuries and medical expenses, plus interest and legal fees. He is represented by attorney Jacob M. Robinson of the Robinson Law Offices in Wheeling.

Judge David J. Sims is assigned to the case.
