WHEELING – A man is suing West Virginia State Police under the Freedom of Information Act for access to a 2011 police report.

Earl Grant Edmondson was being housed in Northern Regional Jail and on Sept. 29, 2010, he checked the current balance of his Master Card and his Visa Net-Spend card and noticed he was missing $10,000, according to a complaint filed March 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia.

Edmonson claims he did not transfer, withdraw or give permission for anyone to remove from the accounts and in April 2011, he filed a complaint with the West Virginia State Police of Moundsville.

The plaintiff tried several times to get a copy of the police report that was filed, but was not successful, according to the suit.

Edmonson claims he has written several letters asking for the police report so that he can mail it to Visa and Master Card alerting them to the stolen money and as proof that he did file a complaint with the police.

Edmonson is seeking an order ordering the West Virginia State Police to send a copy of the police report to him. He is representing himself.
