Couple blame Fed Ex for injury accident

Fedex truck

WHEELING – An Ohio County couple's lawsuit against a shipping service claims a company driver caused an injury accident last June involving the couple’s truck.

Penelope Prunty and George Petz filed a lawsuit April 4 in Ohio Circuit Court against Federal Express Corp., alleging negligence and personal injury liability.

According to the complaint, Petz was headed west in the Wheeling Tunnel at 3:40 p.m. on June 27, 2015 when his Chevrolet Silverado was sideswiped and damaged by a Fed Ex truck hauling a 53-foot trailer. The suit claims Prunty, a passenger in the Silverado, suffered injuries and incurred medical expenses from the incident. The plaintiffs also claim the Fed Ex driver did not stop at the scene, violating state law.

The plaintiffs seek a jury trial and compensatory and punitive damages, plus litigation costs and interest. They are represented by attorney Ronald Wm. Kasserman of the Kasserman Law Offices PLLC in Wheeling. Judge Ronald E. Wilson is assigned to the case.
