Worker accuses hospital of wrongful termination

Wrongful term 03

FAYETTEVILLE – A Fayette County man is suing his former employer for allegedly forcing him to resign over allegations that he threatened co-workers.

Billie Ray Redman filed a lawsuit April 1 in Fayette Circuit Court against Montgomery General Hospital, alleging wrongful termination.

According to the complaint, Redman lost his job as a respiratory therapist on April 4, 2014 after hospital officials heard allegations that he had made threatening statements to co-workers. Redman says he was forced to sign a letter of resignation acknowledging the alleged threats in order to receive his final paycheck. The suit also claims the defendant threatened to report Redman’s alleged threats to the police and have his license revoked.

Redman seeks compensation for wrongful termination, workplace retaliation and medical/mental suffering in an amount to be determined at trial. He is representing himself. Judge Paul M. Blake Jr. is assigned to the case.
