PRINCETON – A Mercer County woman has filed a lawsuit claiming her sister’s death was connected to hospital neglect.

Nettie Gates, as personal representative of the estate of Nellie Arnold (deceased), filed a lawsuit April 14 in Mercer Circuit Court against Princeton Community Hospital Association Inc., doing business as Princeton Community Hospital, alleging professional and medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, Arnold was a patient at the defendant’s facility from May 31 to June 11, 2014. The suit claims that as a result of alleged negligence on the part of hospital staff, Arnold suffered a fall resulting in a right hip fracture, as well as other injuries, contributing to or leading to her death on Jan. 20, 2015.

Gates seeks a jury trial and damages for medical expenses and mental pain and suffering in an amount to be determined at trial. She is represented by attorney Andrew L. Paternostro and Jeff D. Stewart of The Bell Law Firm in Charleston. Judge William J. Sadler is assigned to the case.
