NEW CUMBERLAND – A Hancock County woman is suing the owner of retail property where she claims she tripped on a handicapped ramp and suffered serious injuries.

Linda K. Bennett and Thomas Bennett filed a lawsuit April 12 in Hancock Circuit Court against 2000 Club Member LLC, alleging personal injury liability.

According to the complaint, Linda Bennett was leaving the Verizon Store on Three Springs Drive in Weirton on April 17, 2014 when she tripped and fell on the handicapped ramp on the store’s sidewalk. The suit says Linda suffered painful injuries requiring medical treatment, and her husband, Thomas, suffered mental anguish.

The plaintiffs seek a jury trial and compensatory damages in an amount to be proven at trial, plus interest and litigation costs. They are represented by attorney Steven M. Recht of the Recht Law Offices in Weirton. Judge Jason A. Cuomo is assigned to the case.
