HUNTINGTON – A Kentucky woman says her husband’s delayed treatment at a West Virginia hospital compromised his care, contributing to his death.
Diane Sue Price, executor of the estate of Angelo Shepherd (deceased), filed a lawsuit in Cabell Circuit Court against Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc. and University Physicians and Surgeons Inc., doing business as Marshall Neuroscience.
According to the complaint, Shepherd was admitted to Cabell Huntington Hospital on April 5, 2014 after falling and hitting his head. Although doctors diagnosed him with a subdural hematoma, Shepherd never underwent a scheduled CT scan because he was discharged from the hospital before the test occurred. Price says the delay in treatment caused Shepherd to endure unnecessary pain and suffering and ultimately led to his death from complications of the wound on April 12, 2014.
Price seeks a jury trial, punitive and compensatory damages, interest, and litigation costs. She is represented by attorney Robert P. Welsh of The Masters Law Firm L.C. in Charleston.
Judge Christopher D. Chiles is assigned to the case.
