Woman blames college for trip-and-fall injuries

Slip02

WHEELING – A Ritchie County woman says a college she attended allowed hazardous conditions on campus, causing her to suffer serious injuries from a fall.

Lindsey Bush and her husband, Robin Bush, filed a lawsuit May 2 in Ohio Circuit Court against the West Virginia Northern Community College Board of Governors, alleging negligence and loss of consortium.

According to the complaint, Lindsey Bush tripped and fell as she was leaving the college’s Education Center building on May 5, 2014. The suit says the nursing graduate tripped on an unmarked, raised ledge just outside the building’s front doors, fracturing her kneecap and suffering a head wound and other injuries.

The Bushes seek a jury trial, compensatory damages for physical and mental injuries, plus interest and litigation costs. They are represented by attorney William B. Summers of Summers & Associates in Parkersburg.

Judge James P. Mazzone is assigned to the case.
