LOGAN – A Logan County man is suing his late relative’s doctor for allegedly refusing to release copies of her medical records in accordance with state law.

Mickey Bryant, administrator of the estate of Rebecca Bryant, filed a lawsuit May 12 in Logan Circuit Court against Dr. Karunasree Kanuri and West Virginia Family Medicine Inc.

According to the complaint, Rebecca Bryant was Kanuri’s patient from Jan. 1, 2010 to Sept. 1, 2014. On several occasions after her death, the complaint states that Mickey Bryant requested copies of her records through counsel and by telephone, but to no avail.

Bryant seeks the court to compel Kanuri to produce the records, plus reimburse him for litigation costs. He is represented by attorney Scott H. Kaminski of Kaminski Law PLLC in Charleston.

Judge William Douglas Witten is assigned to the case.
