Woman seeks compensation for denied benefits

Insurance 07

BECKLEY — A woman is suing Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Company, d/b/a CNA Group Life Assurance Company, alleging that she was wrongly denied long-term disability benefits.

Janet L. Moye filed a complaint on July 12 in Raleigh Circuit Court against the defendant, alleging that the defendant alleging that the insurance company based its denial on opinions of doctors who never met her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has not received benefits due under a long-term disability plan. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly refusing to pay her benefits and never requesting that she be examined by anyone other than Dr. Omar K. Hasan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for her benefits that have been denied, appropriate damages and penalties, attorney's fees, costs and such other relief as the court may deem just and equitable. She is represented by Danny R. Moye of Danny R. Moye Lw Office in Beckley.
