Woman sues bar after being shot in leg

Law money 05

CHARLESTON — A patron is suing Tayworsky LLC, d/b/a Monkey Barrel Bar, alleging that the bar failed to provide adequate security and that she was shot in the leg.

Keona Brock filed a complaint on June 30 in Kanawha Circuit Court against the defendant, alleging that the bar operator breached its duty to protect its customers.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 4, 2015, she was a patron at Monkey Barrel Bar when she sustained a lower leg injury from a gunshot wound. She claims the injuries caused her to suffer medical expenses, annoyance, inconvenience, emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff holds Tayworsky LLC, d/b/a Monkey Barrel Bar, responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate security to its patrons.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount sufficient to compensate her damages, attorney's fees and costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and all other relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Scott H. Kaminski of Kaminski Law PLLC in Charleston.
