Suit alleges harassment, discrimination at workplace

LOGAN — A couple's lawsuit against Greenbrier Minerals LLC, Jack Pauley, Jason Acord and five John Does alleges age discrimination and wrongful termination.

Larry A. Woods and Karen S. Woods filed a complaint on Aug. 1 in Logan Circuit Court against the defendants, alleging that they violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that Larry A. Woods was frequently subjected to ridicule, taunting and harassment about his age and post-traumatic stress disorder and was terminated from employment due to his age. As a result of the defendants' actions, he has suffered lost wages and benefits, indignity, depression, anxiety and humiliation, the suit alleges. The plaintiffs hold the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to stop or expressly condoning harassment, falsely accused him of sleeping on the job, intentionally frightening him and subjecting him to a hostile and discriminatory environment.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek award for back pay, front pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs of litigation and for such other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Thomas G. Wilson of Wilson Law Offices PLLC in Charleston.
