LOGAN — A shopper is suing Wal-mart Stores Inc., a retail store operator, citing alleged insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries.
Lorene Collins filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in Logan Circuit Court against Wal-mart Stores Inc., alleging that the retail store operator breached its duty to protect its patrons.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 21, 2015, she was shopping at the defendant's store #2610. While shopping and pushing a shopping cart, she fell on water or another liquid on the floor, causing her to sustain injuries, and suffered pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life and medical expenses, she claims. The plaintiff holds Wal-mart Stores Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to discover the liquid on the floor and failed to remove the liquid from the floor.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $70,000, plus costs of this suit and pre-judgment interest. She is represented by Donald C. Wandling of Wandling Law Office LC in Logan.
