HUNTINGTON – A Huntington church alleges a contractor installed a substandard roof.
Trinity Church of God of Huntington, West Virginia filed a complaint in the Cabell Circuit Court against Okie Adkins Construction and Odie Akins alleging breach of contract, negligence, breach of implied warranty and other counts.
The complaint states that on Jan. 25, Adkins submitted a proposal to the church to replace its roof for a proposed cost of $41,800. The plaintiff alleges that after Adkins installed the new roof, numerous leaks began to form, causing water damage inside the church. The suit states that after Adkins tried multiple times to repair the leakage, the roof reportedly never got any better. The church claims that there was a breach of contract with the installation of a substandard roof.
The plaintiff seeks a refund of monies paid for the roof work, damaged incurred by repairing and replacing the roof, damages inside the church, and any other relief the court finds the plaintiff entitled to. A trial by jury is also demanded. The plaintiff is represented by William L. Mundy of Mundy & Associates in Huntington. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Chris Chiles.
