Mineral rights owner alleges oil, gas producer caused her economic harm

ELIZABETH — A Wood County mineral rights owner is suing oil and gas producers, alleging they caused her financial harm.

Marie Jackson, successor to F. L. Blair and Eveline H. Blair, filed a lawsuit Sept. 1, in the Wirt Circuit Court against East West Resources of Spencer, West Virginia, and W.H. Hildreth, alleging they created a cloud upon the title of her oil and gas rights.

According to the complaint, Jackson has suffered financial damages due to loss of 580 acres of valuable property in Spring Creek District, annoyance, emotional distress and anxiety and was forced to incur substantial costs and legal expenses.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants wrongfully claimed rights to commence oil and/or gas production on a terminated lease agreement and continued to trespass on plaintiff's property.

Jackson seeks trial by jury, a restraining order preventing the defendants from entering her propterty, compensation for all damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney William Crichton V of Parkersburg.
