GOP ad links Reynolds to Obama, Hillary Clinton policies

Electioncountdown

WASHINGTON – The Republican Attorneys General Association has released a new ad attacking Democratic attorney general candidate Doug Reynolds.

The ad, titled “Designed to Cripple,” can be viewed on the RAGA’s website devoted to the West Virginia attorney general race called www.dougendorsedcrookehillary.com.

The 30-second commercial urges voters to say no to the “liberal agenda” of President Obama, Hillary Clinton and Reynolds.

“Doug Reynolds is trying to trick voters into believing he will fight for West Virginia jobs, but the evidence overwhelmingly shows this is a lie," RAGA Executive Director Scott Will said in a statement. "Doug Reynolds is a Hillary Clinton donor who backed legislation that would have crippled the ability of the attorney general to fight unconstitutional, job-killing regulations issued by the federal government.

“Now [Reynolds] claims he would fight for West Virginia jobs in the very same office. Voters will not be fooled by Doug Reynolds’ double talk."

Reynolds’ campaign called the ad “more of the same lies.”

“The latest ad from pharmaceutical lobbyist Patrick Morrisey and his out-of-state super PAC is just more of the same lies being recycled, “ Reynolds campaign spokeswoman Lynette Maselli told The West Virginia Record. “Clearly, Morrisey and his deep-pocket D.C. friends have no intention of discussing the issues facing West Virginia, and are just trying to buy the election by flooding the airwaves with lies.”

Maselli said the United Mine Workers have endorsed Reynolds “because he’s been a strong advocate.”

And in the RAGA ad, the announcer says Reynolds “pushed legislation designed to cripple the Attorney General’s power to fight the Obama EPA.”

Maselli calls that “another lie.”

“Doug Reynolds believes that the state’s attorney general should be held to the highest ethical standard, and when elected, he will encourage the West Virginia Legislature to pass the Attorney General Ethics Act,” she said. “It’s crystal clear to anyone paying attention that Patrick Morrisey doesn’t feel the same and is having his Super PAC do his dirty work.

“Morrisey still won’t admit that his former campaign manager, Scott Will, is the executive director of the Republican Attorneys General Association and chairman of the Mountaineers Are Always Free Super PAC. The Super PAC is funded by RAGA, which in turn funded by large donations from the pharmaceutical industry. You connect the dots."
