PRINCETON — A Mercer County man is suing a Virginia debt collector, alleging unfair and unconscionable collection practices.

Robert Hill filed a lawsuit Sept. 14 in Mercer Circuit Court against MedKey Inc. alleging violation of the West Virginia Consumer Credit and Protection Act.

According to the complaint, on Sept. 2, 2014, after Hills became in arrears upon and alleged debt, he continuously received collection communications from MedKey attempting to collect the alleged debt, which caused him to be annoyed, harassed, bothered and distressed.

The plaintiff alleges MedKey attempted to collect a debt by coercion, engaged in oppressive and abusive collection practices and utilized fraudulent, deceptive and misleading representations to collect a debt.

Hill seeks trial by jury, actual damages, statutory damage, costs of litigation, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief deemed proper. He is represented by attorneys Ralph C. Young, Christopher B. Frost, Steven R. Broadwater Jr. and Jed R. Nolan of Hamilton, Burgess, Young & Pollard PLLC in Fayetteville.
