CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County registered nurse is suing an assisted living facility and supervisors, alleging a hostile work environment, sexual harassment and wrongful termination.
Brenda Myers filed a lawsuit Aug. 31 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Beverly Enterprises-West Virginia Inc., doing business as Golden Living-Riverside, Jane Doe and John Doe, alleging violation of the West Virginia Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, during Myers' employment with Golden-Living Riverside from September 2013-September 2014, she was forced to work in an office environment filled with unwelcome sexual advancement, explicit conversations, sexual remarks and sexual behavior.
As a result of defendants actions, the suit says, Myers has suffered lost wages and benefits, emotional distress, indignity and inconvenience. The plaintiff alleges the defendants embarked on a scheme to result in her dismissal from employment and was blamed for an incident involving a patient's feeding tube.
Myers seeks trial by jury, compensatory and punitive damages, court costs and expenses for this action, attorney fees and all other relief. She is represented by attorney Timothy J. LaFon of Cicarello Del Giudice & LaFon in Charleston.
