CHARLESTON — A Kanawha County woman is suing an area sports bar operator, alleging the defendant's negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff.

Angela McGinnis filed a lawsuit Sept. 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Bar 101 LLC, alleging the defendant negligently created and permitted an unsafe condition on its premises.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 30, 2014, McGinnis was a customer at Bar 101 in Kanawha County when she fell and collapsed to the floor due to a broken chair. As a result of the incident, the suit says, McGinnis has been required to expend large sums of money for medical and hospital treatment and services.

The plaintiff alleges Bar 101 failed to provide and maintain safe furnishings and failed to provide and maintain a safe environment.

McGinnis seeks trial by jury, judgment in an amount to be set by the jury, plus costs, attorney fees and any other relief allowed by law. She is represented by attorneys J. Michael Ranson and Cynthia M. Ranson of Ranson Law Offices PLLC in Charleston.
