Patient blames nursing home for injuries

PRINCETON — A former resident is suing nursing home facilities, alleging their negligence led to injuries for the plaintiff. 

Mason Perry of Mingo County filed a lawsuit Sept. 20 in Mercer Circuit Court against Rehabilitation Hospital Corporation of America LLC, HealthSouth Corp., Trinity Health Care Services Inc. and Trinity Health Care Services of Logan Inc., alleging failure to provide professional standards and principles applicable to a nursing home facilities.

According to the complaint, Perry was a resident of the defendants' nursing facility in Logan where he sustained pressure-related skin injuries and infections resulting in pain and suffering and expenses for medical treatment expenses. 

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to provide a safe environment and failed to provide adequate supervision and monitoring to prevent Perry from developing skin injuries,.

Perry seeks trial by jury, all damages, attorney fees and all other relief the court deems fit. He is represented by attorneys Andrew L. Paternostro, Jeff D. Stewart and Shayla M. Rigsby of The Bell Law Firm PLLC in Charleston.
