Motorist blames trucking line for causing crash

Semi crash 05

FAYETTEVILLE — A Fayette County motorist is suing a South Carolina trucking business and a driver, alleging their negligence caused a crash that injured the plaintiff.

Cristina Opdahl filed a lawsuit Oct. 5 in Fayette Circuit Court against Senn Freight Lines Inc. of Newberry, South Carolina, and Pressley Wilkin, alleging Senn Freight negligently trained Wilken.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 12, 2104, Opdahl was driving through a green light at an intersection in Oak Hill along state Route 19. The suit says Wilken, an employee of Senn Freight Lines who was operating a tractor trailer, did not stop on a red light and violently struck the plaintiff's vehicle.

The lawsuit states the collision caused Opdahl to suffer severe and permanent injuries, which led to medical expenses and other damages. The plaintiff alleges Wilken carelessly operated the tractor trailer, failed to obey a traffic signal device and negligently drove the vehicle through a red light.

Opdahl seeks trial by jury, compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney fees, court costs and all other relief the court deems proper. She is represented by attorney Thomas A. Rist of Humprey & Rist LLP in Fayetteville.
