WHEELING — A New Martinsville man is suing a Wheeling lounge owner and a patron, alleging the patron maliciously stabbed and wounded the plaintiff.

Matthew M. Riggs filed a lawsuit Oct. 7 in Ohio Circuit Court against RMLL Enterprise Inc. and Bradley J. Bitzer, alleging insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries and battery.

According to the complaint, on Oct. 7, 2014, Riggs was a patron at RMLL's Jill's Lounge in Wheeling when he was attacked, assaulted and stabbed by Bitzer. The suit says the stabbing caused Riggs to suffer injuries that resulted in physical pain, emotional distress, inconvenience and past and future medical expenses.

The plaintiff alleges RMLL failed to warn him of the dangerous condition in the lounge and failed to provide adequate security and safety to its patrons.

Riggs seeks trial by jury and judgment against the defendants. He is represented by attorney Kevin L. Neiswonger of Neiswonger & White Law Office in Moundsville.
