HUNTINGTON – A Putnam County resident claims a city's negligence is responsible for injuries he sustained in a fall.
Edward Harmon filed a complaint on Oct. 13 in Cabell Circuit Court against the City of Huntington alleging strict liability and negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 17, 2014, while walking on the sidewalk on Sixth Avenue, he tripped on the base of a former parking meter and fell and subsequently sustained serious injuries to his head, arms and body. The plaintiff holds the city of Huntington responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently created a serious hazard by failing to remove the base of the parking meter cemented into the sidewalk and failed to warn the general public of the presence of the dangerous condition.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant in an amount allowed by law, pre- and post-judgment interest, attorney's fees and costs and such other relief as the court deems fit.
