Man alleges Hartford Accident & Indemnity Co. failed to pay medical claims

Insurance 06

WINFIELD – A Putnam County man alleges his insurer refused to pay for medical benefits after an accident.

Eric S. Parsons filed a complaint on Oct. 13 in Putnam Circuit Court against Hartford Accident & Indemnity Co. alleging that the licensed insurer wrongfully refused to pay his medical expenses.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 21, 2015, he and his son sustained injuries in an automobile collision that required necessary medical expenses. He alleges he timely filed a claim to the defendant for payments, but was denied. The plaintiff holds Hartford Accident & Indemnity Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay the medical benefits to which he is entitled and failed to effectuate prompt, fair and equitable settlement of claims.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount sufficient to compensate him for his damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and any further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Thomas H. Peyton of Peyton Law Firm PLLC in Nitro. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Joseph Reeder.
