Charleston residents allege sewer water flooded basement, caused damage

CHARLESTON – Charleston residents allege the negligence of city employees caused damage to their home.

Andrea L. Darr and Steven L. Thomas filed a complaint on Oct. 14 in the Kanawha Circuit Court against The Sanitary Board of the City of Charleston alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 8, sewer water from defendant's sewer line flooded their finished basement. As a result, they allege they sustained property damage and economic losses. The plaintiffs holds The Sanitary Board of the city of Charleston responsible because defendant's employees allegedly caused sewer water to flood their basement and defendant's insurance carrier denied their claim.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages in an amount to be determined at trial, together with costs for this action. They are representing themselves.
