WEBSTER SPRINGS — A Webster County property owner is suing a power company, alleging breach of a lease agreement in owing $12,000.
J.C. Baker & Sons Inc. filed a lawsuit Oct. 27 in Webster Circuit Court against Monongahela Power Company, alleging the defendant failed to perform its duties under the lease agreement.
According to the complaint, J.C. Baker & Sons leased its property to Monongahela Power for a term of five years ending May 31, 2017 for $3,000 per month. Starting July 1, 2016, the suit says, the plaintiff has not received monthly rent totaling $12,000.
The plaintiff alleges Monongahela has refused to make the rent payment for the past four months.
J.C. Baker & Sons seeks trial by jury, judgment of $12,000, plus costs, attorney fees, pre and post-judgment interest, all rents that becomes due after this filing or for the immediate possession of the leased premises and all other appropriate relief.
