MORGANTOWN – A patient alleges his arm was burned during a surgery at a Morgantown medical facility.

Dennis R. Price Jr. filed a complaint on Nov. 18 in the Monongalia Circuit Court against West Virginia University Board of Governors, West Virginia University, Merve Wayne Unger MD and Jeremiah Jeffers MD alleging negligence and breach of standard of care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 5, 2014, while he was under anesthesia and unconscious for a surgery, he sustained thermal injury to his top arm from a warm compress that resulted in pain and suffering, mental anguish and loss of enjoyment of life. The plaintiff holds West Virginia University Board of Governors, West Virginia University, Merve Wayne Unger MD and Jeremiah Jeffers MD responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently did not check his arm during the operation for thermal injury.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount that will sufficiently compensate him for his damages, pre- and post-judgment interest and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Anthony R. Veneri of Anthony R. Veneri Law Offices in Princeton and Patricia Kinder Beavers in Bluefield.
