Patient blames eye doctors for injuries

Medical malpractice 04

CHARLESTON — A Raleigh County patient is suing Kanawha County health care providers, alleging their negligence led to the plaintiff suffering an eye injury.

Diana Wood filed a lawsuit Nov. 28 in Kanawha Circuit Court against WV Eye Consultants LLC, Dr. James Caudill and Retina Consultants PLLC, alleging violation of the West Virginia Medical Professional Liability Act.

According to the complaint, on May 29, 2013, Caudill implanted a lens on Wood's right eye. As a result of negligent implantation, the suit says, Wood experienced loss of vision to her right eye, pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement, aggravation and will continue to incur medical bills.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants failed to timely discover and correct the misplacement of the lens implanted to her eye and failed to treat her medical condition.

Wood seeks trial by jury, judgment against the defendants, individually and jointly, for all damages, including economic and non-economic losses. She is represented by attorney Arden J. Curry II of Pauley Curry PLLC in Charleston.
