Motorist seeks damages from GEICO after I-77 accident

BECKLEY – A Raleigh County motorist is seeking damages from an insurance company after she was injured trying to avoid striking a deer.

Kara Marie Sims filed a complaint on Dec. 2 in Raleigh Circuit Court against GEICO Insurance Co.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 5, 2014, she was operating a motor vehicle on Interstate 77 when she lost control of the said vehicle after she attempted to avoid striking a deer. As a result, she alleges sustained serious and permanent injuries and incurred past and future medical expenses. The suit states she was insured by the defendant at the time of the incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional amount awarded by jury, attorney's fees and costs and all other damages as permitted by law. She is represented by Robert P. Dunlap of Robert Dunlap Esquire PLLC in Beckley. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge H.L. Kirkpatrick III.
